CHAPTER VIII
COMMUNICATION UNIT OF THE PRESIDENCY OF THE REPUBLIC
ARTICLE 47.- (1) Under the authority of a communication adviser, the Communication Unit shall be responsible for:
- performing any communication-related duties assigned to it by the President of the Republic;
- furnishing the President of the Republic with information and summaries concerning national and international news as well as major trends of public opinion. To this end, it shall set up a data bank which shall be regularly updated;
- projecting Cameroon’s image at home and abroad in conjunction with the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry in charge of Communication; ,
- conceiving and implementing, at the request of the President of the Republic, statements intended for the public, elected officials, the press and the outside world;
- public relations of the Presidency of the Republic of which it shall be the spokesman as necessary;
- relations with the print media, radio and television in conjunction with the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic.
(2) The Communication Adviser, who shall have the rank and prerogatives of a technical adviser, may be assisted by chargés de mission and attachés.
(3) Administratively, the Communication Unit shall fall under the Civil Cabinet.
