The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA received accreditation letters from the new Ambassador of Egypt to Cameroon, Sherif SALAH ELDIN ELLEITHY, and the new Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon, Nadav COHEN, in two elaborate diplomatic ceremonies that took place at Unity Palace on Tuesday 7 January 2013. The Head of State later granted audience to the Head of the European Union Delegation in Cameroon, Françoise COLLET, during which he received her letters of introduction.

The presentation of letters of accreditation was replete with military honours provided by a detachment of the Presidential Guard, who executed the national anthem of Cameroon on the arrival of each Ambassador, while their respective national anthems were played to mark the end of the ceremony.

President Paul BIYA had a brief private discussion with each of the diplomats after receiving their accreditation letters. Besides him during the ceremonies were his close collaborators, notably the Minister of External Relations, the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, the Director of the Civil Cabinet, the Chief of Staff Special Command and the Commander of the Presidential Guard.
