Pupils of the Coccinelles school complex at the Unity Palace have received numerous prizes from the First Lady, Mrs Chantal BIYA to mark the start of the third term holidays. This was during the 18th end-of-year ceremony organised at the campus on 29 June 2018 to reward them for their excellent performances in the 2017/2018 academic year.
The Headmaster, in his welcome address, acknowledged the unconditional support of the wife of the President of the Republic, who is equally the patroness of the school. He expressed the gratitude of the staff and pupils, and promised to maintain the brilliant results registered so far.
This was followed by a series of highly-acclaimed songs, ballets, rhymes, and sketches performed in English and French by “Les Coccinelles”. They seized the opportunity to showcase the rich cultural diversity in Cameroon to promote the preservation of peace and togetherness.
Mrs Chantal BIYA was visibly satisfied with the pupils and their teachers especially when she visited the classrooms to assess their work.
The major interludes of the day were a musical comedy by “Les Daltons” and a lively show from John Duchant who thrilled the pupils, parents, and special guests – among whom was the Minister, Deputy Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic.
