The First Lady joint her counterparts at the Orsay Museum in Paris on 6 December 2013 for a meeting convened by Madam Valerie Trierweiller, First Lady of France on the sexual violence on women in Africa. This conference was holding on the sidelines of the summit on peace and security in Africa holding in the French capital on the 6 and 7 of December 2013.

Madam Chantal BIYA, who is well known for her hmanitarian endeavours, was personally received at the conference by Madam Valerie Trierweiller.

Before deliberations started at the meeting, they observed a minute of silence in honour of Nelson MANDELA, the former South African president who the night before at the age of 95 years.

The First Ladies saw a documentary film on violence against women in the Democratic Republic of Congo, co-produced by the Cameroonian Osvalde LEWAT, wjich depicted the havoc caused by the war in the Kivu region.

In a message relayed to the participants, President François HOLLANDE expressed his commitment to the protection of women in Africa.

For her part, the First Lady of France affirmed her refusal of impunity,  and her willingness to fight and to end the silence on this important matter.
