The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA has gratified Cameroonian civil servants with the decree harmonising the age limit to go on retirement. Henceforth, all workers of category A and B will retire at the age of 60 (sixty) years, while those of category C and D will retire at 55 (fifty-five) years. This salutary measure is welcome and soothing news for civil servants, irrespective of the profession, as only some of them benefitted from this provision before the signing of this decree.
Once more, the Head of State has demonstrated his determination to work relentlessly for the improvement of the working conditions of civil servants and the well-being of the people at large. The enormous economic and social benefits of this timely presidential act will trickle down to all corners of the country and are another milestone in the march of Cameroon towards emergence by 2035. The year 2020 has been a year of several challenges that have left many workers with a lot of anxiety about the prospects of their careers. President Paul BIYA, by harmonising the retirement age, has given many civil servants reason to hope and aspire for better tidings. A clear indication that the Father of the Nation has an attentive ear for their worries and is always ready to meet their aspirations.
