The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, and First Lady Chantal BIYA are back in the Unity Palace, Yaounde, following a fruitful stay in Europe.
The special plane carrying the Presidential Couple from France landed at the Nsimalen International Airport at 3:30 p.m. on 23 August 2024.
The Head of State and his wife were welcomed at the presidential wing of the airport. They received warm handshakes from close aides including Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, and the Minister of State, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh.
President Paul BIYA and First Lady Chantal took part in two major events during their stay in France, upon the invitation of French President Emmanuel MACRON. They attended the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on 26 July, and the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings of Provence on 15 August.
The Presidential Couple equally stopped in Geneva, Switzerland between the 5th and the 14th of August 2024.
During his stay in Paris, H.E. Paul BIYA was received in audience by his French counterpart at the Elysee Palace.
The Cameroonian leader equally granted an audience to former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who announced his intention to lead a team of investors to Cameroon in September.
At the Boulouris necropolis, President Paul BIYA delivered a special opening speech in honour of the brave African riflemen who contributed to the liberation of France during the Second World War. He seized the opportunity to urge world leaders to rebuild trust, seek dialogue, and preserve peace.
