The Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA had discussions with French President François HOLLANDE and the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen HARPER in two separate audiences that he had with these personalities on Sunday 30 November 2014 on the side-lines of the Francophonie Summit.
The discussions with the French President were held in the company of the Minister of External Relations Pierre MOUKOKO MBONJO and the Director of the Civil Cabinet Martin BELINGA EBOUTOU, as well as Cameroon’s Ambassador to France Lejeune MBELLA MBELLA. On his part, the French President was accompanied by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Laurent FABIUS, the Adviser for African Affairs Helene LE GAL, and the Chief of Staff of the Special Command of the French Head of State, General Benoît PUGA.
The President of the Republic later had discussion for about 20 minutes with the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen HARPER, whose country fielded the candidature of Michaëlle JEAN for the post of the Secretary General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie. She was voted to the post by general consensus of the Heads of State following the withdrawal of four other candidates, to replace outgoing scribe Abdou DIOUF.
