First Lady Chantal BIYA’s traditional end-of-year tour of institutions under her distinguished patronage culminated at the Hospital Centre for Applied Research, Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproduction (CHRACERH) during a colourful Christmas tree lighting ceremony organised on 23 December 2023.
The two-hour event was marked by three important moments of gratitude and recognition in homage of the fantastic results recorded and the unflinching support of Mrs Chantal BIYA and her illustrious husband – President Paul BIYA since the creation of the 8-year-old health complex.
In modesty and humility, Professor Jean Marie Kasia, Director General of the institution, opened the ceremony with the presentation of a prestigious prize won by CHRACERH during the 2023 African Leadership Award. It was revealed to the First Lady and her guests that the reference hospital was classified as the “Best in vitro fertilisation centre”.
Babies born in CHRACERH since its inception, patients, and children of staff, in the company of their parents, where later honoured with special gifts and packages from their matron, who spared no effort to exchange pleasantries with a glow of love. The giftees, among whom was a group of 7-year-olds – born via in vitro fertilisation at the institution, were filled with immeasurable joy and gratitude.
It was equally an occasion for First Lady Chantal BIYA to join the highly qualified staff of CHRACERH to celebrate the birth of the 400th baby delivered three days ago via in vitro fertilisation. It was revealed that the health complex has set a target of 500 babies by 2025.
