The Paediatric Oncology Centre of the Chantal BIYA Foundation has expressed its profound gratitude to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta for its tireless efforts that facilitated the purchase of medications for the treatment of childhood cancer in Cameroon.

This was during the second fundraising gala dinner organised by Ambassador Jean-Christophe Heidsieck at Hilton Hotel on 8 June 2024.

First Lady Chantal BIYA was guest of honour at the important gathering that was witnessed by hundreds of dedicated donors including His Excellency Fra' Emmanuel Rousseau, Grand Commander of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.

In his welcome speech, Ambassador Jean-Christophe Heidsieck thanked First Lady Chantal BIYA for her frank collaboration and boundless generosity. He announced that the sum of 51 million FCFA was raised last year. The money was used to fund humanitarian activities in three health facilities, including the Paediatric Oncology Centre of the Chantal BIYA Foundation, the Saint John of Malta Hospital in Njombe, and the Maternity and Leprosy Health Centre in Mokolo.

Ambassador Jean-Christophe Heidsieck equally appreciated the magnanimity of the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC) - a credible partner of the Order in the fight against leprosy.

On his part, Grand Commander Fra' Emmanuel Rousseau, hailed the excellent and long-lasting ties that exist between Cameroon and the Order of Malta. He seized the opportunity to invite the Presidential Couple to Rome
