The staff and benefactors of the Chantal BIYA Foundation have rekindled the zeal to ameliorate the welfare of mothers, children and underprivileged persons in Cameroon.
This was during the 2024 Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony organised at the institution’s headquarters in Yaounde on 23 December 2024.
1,500 children, including internal and external patients, orphans, and pupils, graciously received Christmas gifts from the First Lady.
The UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion, and UNAIDS Special Ambassador toured the wards and the Children First Centre to comfort the beneficiaries with warm words, handshakes and hugs.
Mrs Chantal BIYA consoled the bereaved staff and offered words of encouragement following the demise of Mrs. Habissou Bidoung Mkpatt, Secretary General of the humanitarian body. An emotional and respectful moment of silence was observed to pay tribute to the significant role the departed played in the growth and stability of the Foundation.
