The Civil Cabinet has at its head a Director. He is assisted by an assistant and has under his authority Technical Advisers and Chargés de Mission. The Director of the Civil Cabinet has the rank and the prerogatives of a minister.
The Work of the Civil Cabinet of the Republic
The Director of the Civil Cabinet, appointed by the President of the Republic, is charged amongst other things with:
- Private matters and the audiences of the President
- Protocol of State
- The stewardship, presidential residences and houses.
- The Collaborators of the Director of the Civil Cabinet
The Technical Advisers, Chargé de Mission and Attachés assist the Director of the Civil Cabinet in the performance of his duties
Internal Services of the Civil Cabinet
The Protocol
The Protocol department is responsible for preparing and accompanying Presidential journeys outside abroad, together with bilateral and multilateral summit meetings attended by the President. It also organizes the visits to Cameroon of Heads of State and Government and very important persons, as well as national commemorations, the New Year ceremonies, presentations of diplomats' credentials, and all official events and receptions held at the instigation of the President. The department provides answers to questions of etiquette and precedence. Under the authority of the Chief of Protocol who has the rank of a technical advicer, the department is staffed by diplomats seconded to the President's Office for the above purposes.
The Stewardship of the Palace and Presidential Residences
The service of stewardship organizes official receptions at the Unity Palace, sojourns of the of foreign Heads States in official residences as well as receptions at the time of the official journey of the President of the Republic in Cameroon or abroad. The stewardship of the Palace is charged with equiping and maintenance of the Palace, Presidential Residences and Presidential Houses in the airports, the operation of the Palace and the presidential automobile park. The stewardship carryout the private services of the President of the Republic. It functions with the various suppliers of the Presidency.
