On Wednesday, 22 July 2015, two separate criminal blasts perpetrated by two suicide bombers occurred at 2.30 p.m. in the Barmaré neighbourhood in Maroua and at the entrance of the city’s main market.

The attacks killed 13 (thirteen) people, including the two suicide bombers, and injured 32 (thirty-two) others.

The President of the Republic, H.E. Paul Biya, very strongly condemns such cowardly and ignominious attacks against innocent people.

The Head of State extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and his wishes of speedy recovery to the injured.

He once more advises the population to remain vigilant and cooperate closely with the security forces.

The President of the Republic reassures them that the stringent measures he has prescribed and which are already being implemented will certainly pay off in crushing these blood-thirsty criminals.
