The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA held five consecutive audiences with Chinese entrepreneurs at St Regis, Beijing, on 7 September 2024.
Collin Hu, Senior Vice President of Huawei Group was the first businessperson received by the Head of State.
He was followed by Xinxing Pang, Chairman of StarTimes; Xu Chengzhi, Vice President of China Tianying Inc; John Cai, Vice President of Liyu Group; and Bai Yinzhan, Chairman of China Harbour Engineering Company.
Holding on the sidelines of the 4th Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), the Head of State seized the occasion to reiterate Cameroon's keenness to expand the scope of business deals with Chinese investors.
President Paul BIYA laid emphasis on projects related to the extension of fiber optics, video surveillance, rural electrification in 1,000 localities, the rehabilitation of the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV), environmental protection, renewable energy, and transportation.
The Chinese entrepreneurs, reassured, expressed their delight at the Head of State's personal attachment and formidable ambition to diversify partnerships aimed at attaining economic growth and sustainable development in Cameroon by 2035.
They left the hall satisfied, and promised to inject new momentum into their investments as well as fast track the realisation of ongoing projects in Cameroon.
President Paul BIYA was assisted throughout the three-hour meetings by close aides such as the Ministers in charge of: Public Works; Mines, Industry and Technological Development; Defence; External Relations; Territorial Administration; Economy, Planning and Regional Development; Agriculture and Rural Development; and Transport.
President Paul BIYA's intense agenda this afternoon and the duration of each audience (an average of 30 minutes) are strong signals; showcasing his unwavering commitment to bring the long-standing Sino-Cameroon friendship and cooperation to new heights.
