His Excellency Paul BIYA returned to Cameroon on Monday 21 October 2024, following a stay in Europe.

It was exactly at 4:37 p.m. that the special plane carrying the Head of State and the First Lady Mrs Chantal BIYA arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport.

Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, the Minister of State, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, warmly welcomed President Paul BIYA on the tarmac.

Both personalities exchanged courtesies for a few minutes over the watchful eyes of First Lady Chantal BIYA.

Excitement and jubilation filled the crowd and dance groups when the Presidential Couple arrived at the esplanade of the airport. They chanted cheerfully with songs of reassurance and optimism that completely erased the brief memories of doubts painted by rumourmongers on social media.

A similar atmosphere reigned along the streets of Yaounde to the gates of the Unity Palace as onlookers and sympathisers of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) waved the national flag and danced joyfully upon the passage of the presidential motorcade.

President Paul BIYA left Cameroon on 2 September 2024 to attend the 4th Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing.
