The opening session of the 72nd UN General Assembly debates started on 19 September 2017 with the distinguished presence of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA.
The Head of State was manifestly attentive to the messages delivered; especially those related to peace and humanism. The leaders who took to the rostrum of the UNGA Hall, were mostly inspired by this year’s theme: “Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for all on a Sustainable Planet.”
President Paul BIYA was accompanied to the UN Headquarters by First Lady Chantal BIYA; who doubles as UNAIDS Special Ambassador, and UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion.
The Cameroonian leader will present his country’s vision vis-à-vis the aforementioned theme on Friday 22 September 2017.
