The President of the Republic and First Lady Chantal BIYA left the French capital this afternoon – 15 December 2017 – to Yaounde. This marked the end of the Head of State’s stay in Paris, where he took part in the climate summit christened: “One Planet Summit”. Cameroon’s Ambassador to France - H.E. Samuel Mvondo Ayolo and his wife were present at the Bourget airport to bid farewell to the Presidential Couple.

In line with his constant commitment to the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, took part in the “One Planet Summit” in Paris on 12 December 2017. Co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim, the summit held at the Seine Musicales – Seguin Island. It brought together some 60 Heads of State and Government, representatives of international finance and major global companies. Convened two years after COP21, which culminated in the signing of the historic Paris Climate Agreement, “One Planet Summit” aimed to rekindle the flame of countries’ commitment to fight climate change and to promote the mobilisation of funding for climate actions.

The plane carrying the President of the Republic and Mrs. Chantal BIYA arrived at the Paris-Le Bourget Airport on 11 December 2017. The Presidential Couple were welcomed by Cameroon’s Ambassador to France, His Excellency Samuel Mvondo Ayolo, and his wife. This was followed by the presentation of two pretty flower bouquets: one to the Head of State – given by a little girl; and another to the First Lady – given by a young boy.
