The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA joined African Union and European Union leaders in Abidjan – Côte d’Ivoire on 29 November 2017, for the opening ceremony of the 5th AU-EU Summit. Heads of State and Government (representing 55 African countries and 28 European countries), as well as other top international personalities were present at the Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire. The two-day conclave is holding under the theme: “Investing in youth for a sustainable future”.
The President of the Republic of Cameroon, His Excellency Paul BIYA, arrived in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on 28 November 2017. The Head of State was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Chantal BIYA, to take part in the 5th African Union - European Union Summit from 29 to 30 November 2017. At the invitation of His Excellency Alassane OUATIARA, President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and Mr. Moussa FAKI MAHAMAT, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, His Excellency Paul BIYA, President of the Republic of Cameroon, and his wife Mrs Chantal BIYA, left Yaounde early this afternoon for Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) to attend the s" African Union-European Union Summit which will take place on 29 and 30 November 2017, under the central theme "Investing in the Youth for a Sustainable Future".
The most important lesson registered after the recent CEMAC extraordinary summit in N’Djamena, Chad, is the recognition of the catalytic role played by Cameroon’s Head of State, His Excellency Paul BIYA, towards sub-regional integration.

The Presidential Couple landed at the nation’s capital from Ndjamena - Chad on 1 November 2017, where they successfully participated at the ground-breaking and extraordinary summit of Heads of State and Government of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC).
