The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA and Mrs. Chantal BIYA landed at the Pulkovo airport in Saint Petersburg at about 8h 50 today morning (6h 50 in Yaounde) for the Russia – Africa summit. They were greeted on arrival by Cameroon’s Ambassador to Russia, H.E. Mahamat Paba Sale and some Russian Foreign Ministry and local officials.
The Presidential motorcade then left for the Four Seasons Hotel downtown Saint Petersburg, where the Cameroonian community in Russia received them with drums and chanting of patriotic songs. They also waived effigies of President Paul BIYA and First Lady Chantal BIYA.
In a gesture of welcome at the entrance of the Hotel, some dignitaries lined up to greet the Presidential Couple who also received flowers from two young Cameroonian, Mbella Alexandra Adoumou and Marius Gelin Emyana Mebang. They were also greeted by the wife of the Ambassador, Mme Routou Paba Sale and the staff of the Embassy in Moscow.
Later this Thursday 27 July 2023, the President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA, alongside over twenty other African leaders present in Russia, will attend the opening session of the 2nd Russia – Africa Summit that will be presided over by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
