President Paul BIYA and First Lady Chantal BIYA were among the top guests of a Welcome Reception, hosted by His Excellency President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation on 27 July 2023, in honour of the participating Heads of State and Government in the second Russia-Africa Summit in St.Petersburg, Russia.
The Presidential Couple were received at Roscongress by the Russian leader, who equally seized the opportunity to express his country's willingness to foster a mutually beneficial diplomatic relations with Cameroon.
In a speech to open the special event, President Vladimir Putin reassured his African counterparts of Russia's determination to deepen ties and expand cooperation especially in areas such as food security, the fight against terrorism and extremism, pandemics, climate change, education, and information technology.
H.E. Vladimir Putin reiterated the fact that both parties will continue to work together for "the formation of a just multipolar world order based on the principles of sovereign equality of countries, non-interference in their internal affairs, and respect for the right of peoples to determine their own fate".
