The First Lady Mrs. Chantal BIYA personally presided over festivities to mark the end of year at the Coccinelles school complex at Unity Palace on Tuesday 30 June 2015. The matron and founder of the school handed out gifts to deserving pupils at the ceremony that was full of colour and sound as the children thrilled parents and invitees with a variety of displays.
On hand to welcome the First Lady at the school was the Minister of Basic Education, Madam YOUSSOUF ADJIDJA ALIM, the Minister of Youth and Civic Education Ismaël BIDOUNG MKPATT, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Basic Education Benoit NDONG SOUMHET and several other officials of the Ministry of Basic Education. Other dignitaries present at the occasion included the wife of the President of the Senate, Madam Marie NIAT NJIFENJI, the wife of the Speaker of the National Assembly Madam FADIMATOU CAVAYE and the wife of the Prime Minister, Madam Linda YANG.
The pupils of the school dished out a series of refreshing items, including songs, poems, recitations, ballet dance, traditional dance, etc. They efforts were highly appreciated by the First Lady and the invitees who applauded cheerfully to spur up the children.
The results of the examination classes showed that they did well and scored 70 % pass in common entrance examinations. All the pupils in the junior classes were promoted to the next class. This exercise was followed by the distribution of prices to all the pupils who were only too excited to benefit from the kindness of Madam Chantal BIYA.
The First Lady then visited the various classrooms to see the work of the children within the school year, before having a common meal with them.
A group picture with the First Lady and a goodbye song to the matron and founder of the school brought the ceremony to its end. All and sundry departed with a feeling of gratitude to Madam Chantal BIYA for once more honouring the Coccinelles school complex.
