Cameroon’s First Lady, Mrs. Chantal BIYA was guest of honour at the 11th edition of the Canal 2’Or awards, organised by Canal 2 International Television on Saturday 4 March 2017 at the Yaounde Congress Centre.
The highly animated event, recognised music and film talents in Cameroon and Africa. It was a special occasion for the spouse of the Head of State to commune with artists, and promote Cameroon’s culture.
In her unique style, Mrs. Chantal BIYA impulsively sang the chorus and danced to the rhythms of popular songs to the surprise of the public at the hall and tele-spectators.
Mrs Chantal BIYA’s responsiveness to the performance was filled with a detectable passion that illuminated the show. The First Lady shared a mother-to-son moment with Dynastie le Tigre, the best male artist of the Canal 2’Or, after she handed over his trophy. She gave the artist a handkerchief to help him wipe his tears of joy.
Prior to this, she graciously accepted a request from the MCs for a selfie with the crowd inside the hall. A group photo of Mrs. Chantal BIYA and all the laureates closed the five-hour event.
