The First Lady Madam Chantal BIYA gave out presents to pupils of “Les Coccinelles”, the school complex at Unity Palace, during a colourful ceremony that took place on Friday 18 December 2013. The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Minister of Basic Education, Madam YOUSOUF ADJIJA ALIM, the Minister of Youths and Civic Education Ismael BIDOUNG MPKWATT, the Assistant Director of the Civil Cabinet Joseph LE and a host of other senior officials.

The ceremony started at midday after the arrival of Madam Chantal with the singing of the National Anthem, a tribute to Nelson MANDELA and a welcome address by one of the pupils of the school. Recitations, songs, rhymes, ballet and comic dances were churned out to the invitees by the pupils who were guided along by their teachers.

Lofty parcels were then handed out to the pupils by the First Lady and some of the dignitaries present. Madam Chantal BIYA later visited the various classrooms to see the work of the children before having a meal with them. The ceremony ended with a group picture around the mother of the school, Madam Chantal BIYA.

It should be noted that Stanley ENOW and the X-Maleya group thrilled the children and the public, to the great delight of invitees.
