Mrs Chantal BIYA, spouse of the Head of State, presided over a special Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Applied Research, Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproduction Hospital Centre (CHRACERH) on 22 December 2021.

In her exceptional motherly style and in strict respect of COVID-19 safety measures, the patroness of CHRACERH distributed Christmas gifts to 240 kids including children delivered at the Yaounde-based hospital centre since it went operational in 2015, patients (babies and their mothers) and the offspring of staff members.

This was followed by a tour of the different units of CHRACERH. In the process, Mrs Chantal BIYA exchanged pleasantries with the mothers of new-born babies. The beneficiaries also seized the opportunity to thank the First Lady and President Paul BIYA for their special interest in developing the public health sector especially towards women who faced challenges to conceive. It should be noted that at least 278 babies have been delivered at CHRACERH via in-intro fertilisation (IVF) as of September 2021.

It was equally an occasion for First Lady Chantal BIYA to congratulate the staff of the hospital for the outstanding results recorded so far. She was accompanied by some special guests such as the Minister of Public Health.
