The First Lady – Mrs. Chantal BIYA shared Christmas presents to nearly 3,000 underprivileged children on 24 December 2018 at the headquarters of the Chantal BIYA Foundation.
The majority of the recipients were selected in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Basic Education. Orphans of the Child First Centre, and hospitalised patients at the Mother and Child Centre of the foundation equally received Christmas gifts from the First Lady.
This year’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony was also an occasion to celebrate Mrs. Chantal BIYA’s tenth anniversary as the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion.
The Chantal BIYA Foundation is a 24-year-old humanitarian institution, which aims at sensitising the local and international community on poverty, misery and social exclusion. It also promotes activities to improve mother and child healthcare in Cameroon.
