Sick children admitted at the Chantal BIYA Foundation and orphans of the Child First Centre have been showered with multiple Christmas gifts by the patroness of the philanthropic institutions – Mrs Chantal BIYA. This was during a Christmas tree lighting ceremony organised on 24 December 2019.
The presents were equally distributed to over 1,000 underprivileged pupils and orphans selected from schools and orphanages in the capital city.
For over four hours, Mrs Chantal BIYA paid a visit to all the departments and specialised units of the hospital to show love and compassion to the beneficiaries. She had brief chats with the patients and wished them a speedy recovery. She also greeted and encouraged the medical staff who stood throughout her itinerary.
A similar empathy was expressed by the First Lady when she met with the orphans of the Child First Centre.
It should be noted that the Chantal BIYA Foundation has the biggest paediatric centre in Cameroon. Its Mother and Child Care Centre exclusively offers healthcare services such paediatric oncology and paediatric cardiology.
