The First Lady was guest of honour at the second edition of the "Ballon d'Or" ceremony organised by the Cameroon Football Association, FECAFOOT, at the Yaounde Conference Centre on 16 December 2023.

Mrs Chantal BIYA was welcomed at the venue by Samuel Eto'o, the President of FECAFOOT, who hailed the Presidential Couple for their unflinching support towards the growth of sporting activities in Cameroon. He highlighted the intervention of the First Lady during the Africa Nations Cup in Mali. He noted that her prompt reaction to the request from the national team, and the food she sent were major boosters that facilitated their drive and commitment to win the coveted trophy in 2002. Samuel Eto'o conveyed a special gratitude to President Paul BIYA. He thanked him for ensuring that the Indomitable Lions and footballers of the local leagues practice the sport in good infrastructures.

Several awards were handed over to the meritorious footballers, coaches, referees and teams in the male and female categories. The "Ballon d'Or" trophies were grabbed by Marie Gisèle Ngah Manga and Emmanuel Mahop.

Mrs Chantal BIYA was honoured to present the final award to the best male player, in the presence of guest star and UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

The audience was thrilled by the performances of two Cameroonian musicians, namely, Vanister and Sandrine Nnanga, to spice up the evening.

The special event ended with a family photo of the First Lady and all the laureates.
