The Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA and Madam Chantal BIYA arrived Paris on Sunday 15 November 2015. At the airport to receive the Presidential were a couple of officials, including the Chargée d’Affaires a.i. at the Cameroon Embassy in Paris, Jean Joseph Atangana, and French authorities.
The Presidential Couple proceeded to the lounge of the airport where they were also greeted by the members of the official delegation and the staff of the Cameroon Embassy in Paris. Militants of the two sections of the CPDM, France North and France South, were mobilised to give a very warm and hearty welcome to the Presidential Couple. Before leaving the lounge, the Head of State greeted the masses to their great joy.
President Paul BIYA is in Paris to attend the 38th General Conference of UNESCO, which starts on Monday 16 November 2015. The Head of State while make a speech at the gathering which is also celebrating the 70 years of the existence of the organisation.
The President of the Republic is attending the UNESCO conference at a time when Cameroon has already scored many victories at this 38th session. Professor Njoh Mouelle was elected as a member of the Executive Board of UNESCO and the Minister of Basic Education Madam Youssouf Hadjija Alim, representative of Cameroon at UNESCO, was chosen to head the committee on Social and Human Sciences. Cameroon was also elected into the International Information Development Programme, in the Committee for Bioethics and will continue to sit on the Social Transformation Management Programme. Finally, the Micro-science Centre in Yaoundé has been uplifted to a category 2 centre for Central Africa.
