The President of the Republic, Chief of the Armed Forces His Excellency Paul BIYA signed five decrees on Monday 20 April 2015 attributing the Cross of Military Valour and the Medal of Valour to several officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces and to military units involved in the fight against the Boko Hara m terrorist group. President Paul BIYA also signed a decree granting two annuities to members of the Armed Forces who were in service between 17 May 2014 and 24 April 2015.

The Head of State, Chief of the Armed Forces has paid glowing tribute to the soldiers fighting against Boko Haram insurgents, in his speech at the graduation of the 33rd and 34th batches of military cadets from the Combined Military Academy, EMIA. The colourful military ceremony at the Headquarters Brigade in Yaoundé on Friday 24 April 2015 was also an occasion for the Head of State to extend the grief of the whole Nation to families who lost their love ones in the war and to the victims of the inhuman activities of the terrorist group.

The Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA has lauded the distinguished university career, remarkable media activity and the highly successful tenure of the position of Governor General of Canada by Mrs. Michaëlle JEAN, during a state lunch offered by the President of the Republic and Mrs. Chantal BIYA at Unity Palace on Tuesday 14 April 2015. In his toast, President Paul BIYA praised the Secretary General of the International Organisation of la Francophonie for her actions and determination, high qualities which earned her the post she now occupies.

The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA has attributed medals to over 400 soldiers for their bravery in the war against the Boko Haram terrorist group.  Senior Officers, Officers and ordinary soldiers of the Rapid Intervention Brigade known as “BIR” who have displayed determination, patriotism and courage in fight to protect the national territory from the incursions of the Boko Haram insurgents have been honoured by the President of the Republic, Head of the Armed Forces.

Informed of the controversy arising from the publication of entrance results into IRIC, the Head of State, in the quest for equity, gave instructions that all the candidates whose names appear in the two lists that were published, as well as those found on the waiting list, be admitted into the school. On the instructions of the Head of State His Excellency Paul BIYA, the Government has made available the sum of over 5 billion Francs CFA for the construction of classrooms, wells toilets and the making of benches and other school furniture for schools in the Far North Region. The gesture is to provide a more suitable environment for pupils and students in schools which have been very heavily affected by the ongoing fight against Boko Haram insurgents. Many schools in this region have experienced an unusual swelling in their population as children from areas closer to the border with Nigeria flee the fighting caused by the terrorist organisation.
