The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA received in audience a three-man delegation from N’Djamena at Unity Palace on 30 January 2024.
A special message from H.E. General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, President of Chad, was delivered to his Cameroonian counterpart by the head of the delegation – Mahamat Ahmat Alhabo, Minister of State, and Secretary General of the Presidency.
The other members of the Chadian delegation were Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Minister of Finance and Budget, and Ndolenodji Alixe Naimbaye, Minister of Hydrocarbons.
President Paul BIYA and his guests reviewed the historic and friendly ties that exist between Cameroon and Chad.
They equally examined matters of mutual interest to strengthen bilateral and sub-regional cooperation ties – since both countries are member states of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).
Cameroon is a strategic trade partner to Chad. The establishment of a safe corridor for the transportation of goods via the Douala and Kribi seaports, and the Chad-Cameroon pipeline have significantly boosted bilateral ties recently.
Thus, the leaders of both countries must consult each other regularly to overcome common challenges.
