The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA was received at the French Presidency at 1pm on Friday 26 July 2024 one on one discussions. The audience was a prelude to activities related to the opening ceremony of the Olympic games.

President Emmanuel MACRON welcomed the Head of State at the entrance of the Hotel d'Evreux of the Elysee Palace where a guard of honour headed by Lieutenant Colonel Ravaux, Deputy Military Commander of the Elysee Palace. The French President heartily embraced President Paul BIYA and the two leaders exchanged pleasantries as they moved into the building for their tête-à-tête discussions.

Cameroon and France have a long history of very friendly and cordial relations, with both bilateral and multilateral aspects which require frequent concertation between the two Heads of State. The opening ceremony of the Olympic games offers an opportunity for the two leaders to exchange on several issues.

The President of the Republic was accompanied to the Elysee Palace by the Minister Director of the Civil Cabinet, Samuel MVONDO AYOLO; the Ambassador of Cameroon to France, André Magnus EKOUMOU; the Chief of State Protocol, Simon Pierre BIKELE and some security officials.  After nearly forty minutes of discussions, President Paul BIYA returned to his hotel.  Later in the day he will return to the Elysee Palace with First Lady Mrs. Chantal BIYA to a garden reception offered visiting Heads of State and Government by the French President.
