The Head of State granted a farewell audience to Her Excellency Kgomotso Ruth Magau at the Unity Palace on 31 January 2022.
For over 40 minutes, President Paul BIYA exchanged with the outgoing South African Diplomat on the excellent and longstanding bilateral ties that exist between Yaounde and Pretoria.
In her declaration to the press, H.E. Kgomotso Ruth Magau said the Head of State recognised the solid contribution of the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), who fortunately comes from South Africa.
“He emphasised that was it not of Dr Patrice Motsepe, maybe Cameroon will not be hosting the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2021). He reiterated his gratefulness to the work that Dr Motsepe has done to make sure that Cameroon, against all odds; COVID-19 and all other challenges, is hosting the tournament,” she disclosed.
The South African Diplomat equally mentioned President Paul BIYA’s appraisal of the fruitful cooperation between both countries. He also expressed his wish to have more South African companies in Cameroon.
On a lighter mood, Kgomotso Ruth Magau promised to learn the recipe of a special Cameroonian ginger drink before her departure. She explained that it helped her from seeing a doctor throughout her four-year diplomatic sojourn in Cameroon.
