Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon Wo RUIDI had a farewell audience at Unity Palace on Tuesday 30 December 2014 with the President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA. The Chinese Diplomat, who knew President BIYA since 1987, hailed the clairvoyance and visionary leadership of the Head of State.

Speaking to reporters after over thirty minutes of discussions with the President of the Republic, the outgoing Chinese Ambassador expressed his thanks and gratitude to President BIYA for the support and advice he received during his stay in Cameroon which enabled him do his job successfully. He also hailed the excellent relations between Cameroon and China, which have resulted in numerous economic and commercial exchanges.

Speaking on the level of economic cooperation between Cameroon and China, Wo RUIDI outlined some of the major projects that have been carried out in Cameroon with the assistance of China, such as the Kribi deep seaport, hydroelectricity dams of Lom Pangar, Memve’ele and Mekin, roads, the express road between Douala and Yaoundé etc. In the social domain, the Ambassador pointed out the construction of potable water projects in several towns and hospitals.

Ambassador Wo RUIDI also lauded the military cooperation between Cameroon and China and was optimistic that cooperation in this domain will expand in future. He thanked the Head of State for the safe liberation of the 10 Chinese hostages taken hostage in the Far North of the country, while characterising Cameroon as a country of peace and stability with a radiant future.

At the end of the audience, President Paul BIYA handed some souvenir gifts to the outgoing Chinese Ambassador who has been a true friend of Cameroon since his arrival in the country in August 2012.
