The President of the Republic His Excellency Paul BIYA granted audience on Thursday 5 November 2015 to the United States Ambassador to Cameroon Michael Stephen HOZA during which they discussed the intensification of cooperation ties between the two countries.

Speaking to the press shortly after the audience that lasted over one hour, the United States Ambassador declared that they discussed security issues, especially the fight against the Boko Haram terrorist group. He said that America was determined to fight besides Cameroon to clear the terrorists out of the Far North Region.

The Ambassador indicated that the contingent of American soldiers sent to Garoua were already in place and the moral of the soldiers was very high. Michael HOZA pointed out that two women were in their ranks and he was very pleased with the cordial reception of the American soldiers by the authorities and the entire population of the town. The mobilization of 300 soldiers was a strategic move to defend the Cameroonian territory, he said, but it will also benefit Nigeria, Chad and Niger.

Speaking on economic cooperation, the American Diplomat hailed the good health of the Cameroonian economy, which has a lot of brighter days ahead.
